Chapter 1955
“Of course,” Carola and Elwood responded in unison, nodding in agreement.
A gentle smile appeared on Belinda’s lips, and she retreated into comfortable silence.
“Let’s eat,” Elwood said.
The trio started enjoying their meal, weaving casual conversation through it. Carola and Elwood hungered for details about Belinda’s past.
Belinda responded to their inquiries with patience.
An atmosphere of genuine warmth and connection blanketed the entire space.
After their plates emptied, Elwood extended an offer to escort both Belinda and Carola to their homes. Neither woman raised any ions to his kindness.
Belinda discovered genuine pleasure blooming within this newfound experience. Elwood and Carola’s presence wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, bringing ease to her weary soul.
In the simplest terms, joy had found its way into her heart.
When Belinda got home, she first stopped by Kenia’s room to check on her and chat for a while before heading back to her own room.
When she entered, Lucas was hunched over his desk, drowning in an ocean of paperwork.
The instant he saw Belinda’s radiant expression, he knew she was happy today.
A knowing smile curved across his mouth as he spoke in that familiar low, gravelly tone that always made her pulse quicken. “Come here.”
Belinda glided toward him with graceful steps, her smile blooming wider as she settled onto his lap without a moment’s pause, her slender arms encircling his neck.
Lucas’ hands claimed her waist as he asked, “What did you talk about with your parents that made you so happy?”

Belinda tilted her head thoughtfully. “We didn’t discuss much, actually. They just wanted to know about my past. However, there was one particular revelation that surprised me.”
Then, she recounted to Lucas Carola’s actions toward Kylee.
After hearing that, Lucas raised his eyebrow slightly, a bit shocked. “That’s something I didn’t expect.”
No matter what, peaceful coexistence with Kylee was impossible.
If her own mother, fully aware of the conflict between her and Kylee, still demanded they get along, then she didn’t need such a mother.
At Belinda’s words, Lucas’ arm tightened around her waist, his face shadowed by a rush of conflicting emotions. He had never once heard Belinda speak of this before. He could feel her hesitation, the weight of her inner struggle, but he hadn’t realized it was tied to Kylee.
Drawing in a deep breath, Belinda continued, “Today, once I learned of Carola’s retaliation against Kylee, every struggle I felt in my heart vanished.”
She wound her arms around Lucas’ neck, a smile touching her lips. “Lucas, do you know? Right now, I’m truly happy.”
Lucas leaned closer, his nose brushing gently against hers, his voice a tender murmur. “I’m glad you are.”
Her joy was his joy as well.
