Chapter 1809

Kenia would go inside to visit Sarai, while Margie stayed outside the door.

After going through the disinfection process and changing into protective gear, Kenia followed a nurse through the ICU and was led into Sarai’s room.

At that moment, Sarai stirred, her eyes fluttering open. “Kenia…” Her voice trembled with emotion as she tried to prop herself up.

“Don’t get up,” Kenia said softly, hurrying to Sarai’s side and gently easing her back onto the bed. “You shouldn’t be moving in your condition.”

Sarai’s voice was tinged with concern. “Kenia, are you alright? Did you get hurt anywhere?”

Kenia replied in a soft voice, “I’m perfectly fine.”

Sarai exhaled, relief washing over her. “Thank goodness.”

Kenia gazed at Sarai, her heart a tangle of conflicting feelings. With a quiet sigh, she said, “Sarai, you shouldn’t have thrown yourself into danger like that. It was reckless.”

Sarai’s lips pressed into a thin line for a moment, her voice barely above a whisper. “I wasn’t thinking about anything. At that moment, all I cared about was keeping you safe.”

Kenia fell silent, her emotions knotting further at Sarai’s words. After a pause, she said, “Focus on resting and getting better. Don’t worry about anything else right now.”

Sarai nodded. “Alright, I will.”

After a brief silence, Sarai’s voice faltered. “Kenia, I’m so sorry… I was foolish before, and my actions hurt you and Belinda. I was wrong, completely wrong. If I could turn back time, I would never make those choices. I’ve failed you and Belinda, and I’m too ashamed to face you.”

Tears glistened in her eyes as she spoke.

“Don’t cry—you can’t afford to right now,” Kenia said quickly, her tone gentle but firm. “Let’s not dwell on this. Your only priority right now is to recover. We’ll sort everything else out after you are healed.”

Sarai nodded again. “Okay.”

Thirty minutes later, visiting hours ended, and Kenia left the ICU. She called Belinda to update her about the situation, then headed home with Margie.

After work, Belinda visited her mentor’s house for dinner and a piano session, not leaving until nearly ten.

Lucas picked her up, and as they were on the way home, he shared an update. “I’ve got results from the investigation. In Soling, Sarai hasn’t been in touch with anyone.”

“Suspicious, but her phone records show one call from an unlisted number—just that once. No further untraceable calls after that. There are two possibilities. Either the caller never contacted her again, or Sarai switched to a new, anonymous number to communicate with them. In that case, my team couldn’t track it.”

Belinda’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. “I think the second possibility is more likely the truth.”
