Chapter 1797
Since Sarai had been transferred directly to the ICU and her condition was still critical, visitation wasn’t allowed per hospital policy.
Kenia could only look at Sarai through the glass window.
Belinda gently draped an arm around Kenia’s shoulders and said, “Don’t worry, Grandma. In there, she’s surrounded by doctors and nurses who will monitor her condition. She’s in the safest place she could be.”
Kenia’s eyes lingered on Sarai’s unconscious form. After a long pause, she nodded slowly and murmured, “You’re right. Given how she is now, the ICU really is the safest place for her.”
After standing by Kenia’s side for some time, Belinda gently said, “Grandma, today’s events must have left you rattled. Let’s head home for now, and we can visit Sarai tomorrow.”
After a pause, she added in a comforting tone, “Don’t worry. I’ve asked my colleagues to closely monitor Sarai’s condition. They’ll reach out to me right away if anything happens.”
Hearing Belinda’s reassurance, Kenia felt a wave of relief and nodded. “Alright, let’s go home.”
“Okay.” With that, they climbed into Belinda’s car and drove back to the house.
They had just settled in when the doorbell chimed.
Margie went to open the door.
Standing outside were several people, including two police officers, the property manager, and the head of security. The officers had come to collect statements from Kenia and Margie and to update them on the situation with the robber.
One officer looked at Belinda and the others. “Ms. Wright, Mrs. Lewis, we’ve arrested the attacker. His name is Jarrett Bowman, a drug addict who resorted to robbery out of desperation. He targeted this area because a newly hired security guard, who happened to be his mother’s neighbor, mentioned to him that he worked in an affluent area. That sparked Jarrett’s interest.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “Today, Jarrett convinced the guard to let him in, promising he would only look around and stay by the guard’s side. The guard, trusting their connection, agreed. But when the guard stepped away to use the restroom, Jarrett knocked him unconscious, stole his uniform, and locked him in a stall.”

The officer’s gaze shifted to Kenia and Margie. “He chose you as targets because you two were women and one of you was an elderly person. He thought it would be easy to rob you. The stolen wallet and jewelry have been recovered and are in good condition, but we’ll need to hold them as evidence for now. They’ll be returned once the case is closed. We appreciate your understanding.”
“We understand,” Belinda replied with a nod.
After a few more words, the officers departed.
The property manager then spoke up, rising from the sofa and apologizing to Belinda and Kenia. “Ms. Wright, Mrs. Lewis, we’re deeply sorry for this incident. It’s an unfortunate situation we never wanted to happen, but we’re committed to…”
