Chapter 1932

Chapter1932

Lucas looked at her, his brows furrowed, and gently pulled her down beside him on the couch.

Gathering his thoughts, he spoke with a serious expression. “Earlier today, a man came to the company looking for me. He happened to be at Mount Tuky the day you were pushed down the slope. He caught the whole thing on his drone.”

Belinda’s eyes flew wide in shock. She leaned forward quickly. “Then—who was it? Who pushed me?”

Lucas fell silent at Belinda’s question.

At last, he exhaled deeply, drew out his phone, unlocked it, and passed it to Belinda. “You should see for yourself,” he said.

Belinda accepted the phone and instantly played the video. What had transpired that night on Mount Tuky unfolded before her eyes, frame by frame.

The instant she caught sight of the one who had pushed her that day, a single thought flashed across her mind—this was just what she had suspected. Her instincts had been right all along.

It was indeed Faye!

The footage, shot from a drone above, failed to capture Faye’s expression at that time.

Even so, Belinda could easily picture it—distorted with satisfaction.

After pushing her down the slope, Faye must have been brimming with smug delight.

When Belinda finally lowered the phone, her eyes turned toward Lucas.

Neither spoke.

Only after a long silence did Lucas, in a rough, subdued voice, say, “When you first guessed that Faye might have pushed you, my heart rejected the thought outright. I told myself that was impossible. I couldn’t imagine her capable of such malice. Even when I discovered she carried feelings for me, I refused to believe she would do something so vicious… But now, with the truth staring me in the face, denial is no longer an option.”

His features, usually composed, were rigid with anger yet tinged with resignation at the same time.

Belinda saw clearly the storm of conflict within him.

With his brow furrowed and guilt written plain across his expression, Lucas continued, “Belinda, I’m sorry… I failed you. It was my fault. Once more, I left you exposed to danger.”

Belinda cupped his face tenderly in both hands, her voice soft but steady. “Lucas, no. You can’t blame yourself for this. You’ve already done more than enough to protect me.”

But Lucas shook with remorse. “No. If I had truly protected you well, you wouldn’t have suffered harm because of me.”

Belinda said in a serious tone, “Lucas, stop. Neither of us could have foreseen this. Since it has already happened, we should fix our eyes on dealing with it, not drowning ourselves in guilt. Do you understand?”

Lucas held her gaze for a moment. Then, he spoke with solemn weight. “Belinda, give me just one night to think. But I promise you—I will not let Faye off easily.”

Belinda nodded. “Alright.”

Lucas drew her into his arms.
