Chapter 1941
Chapter1941
He cast them both a withering glance from the corner of his eye. “How ridiculous. Faye pushed Belinda down the hill—not me. And yet, instead of asking Belinda for forgiveness, you come crawling to me. You dare call this remorse? Are your apologies really sincere?”
Truth be told, what Georgie had done in this matter filled him with disappointment.
“I…” Georgie faltered, her voice catching.
Her gaze flicked toward Belinda.
Apologize to Belinda? Impossible!
If it weren’t for Lucas’ protection, Belinda wouldn’t be able to do anything with the matter.
But Faye turned, stepping toward Belinda, reaching out with trembling fingers.
The instant her fingertips brushed Belinda’s hand, Belinda pulled back.
Faye bit down on her lip, fury flashing for an instant in her eyes. But just as quickly as it appeared, it died, replaced by a desperate, pleading fragility.
“Belinda, I’m begging you, I’m sorry! It was all my fault. I acted on impulse at that time; I wasn’t thinking straight! Please, just forgive me this one time. If my words aren’t enough, then strike me if you must—slap me until you feel better.”
As she spoke, her hand reached once again for Belinda’s.
And Belinda avoided her touch again.
With no option left, Faye lifted her own hand and slapped herself across the face—twice, the sharp sound echoing in the room.
“Oh, Faye, my poor girl! What are you doing to yourself?” Georgie cried, concern in her expression.
She threw a venomous glare at Belinda.
Then, whirling to Harold and Norma, she said, “Dad! Norma! Say something, please!”
“We stand with Lucas on this,” Harold finally declared. His voice was cold, resolute. “Whatever excuse you may offer, the fact remains—Faye shoved Belinda down that hill with the intent to kill her. That alone makes her crime unforgivable.”

He turned his stern gaze on Georgie. “You should know by now that spoiling a child without limit only ruins her in the end. Leave this to Lucas. Faye is his niece—he will not take her life. That much, I can promise you.”
His words were also a reminder to Lucas.
He understood well how deeply Lucas loved Belinda, and it was better to tell him in advance that he shouldn’t go as far as to kill Faye.
“Dad!” Georgie exclaimed.
“Grandpa!” Faye cried, her sobs breaking into hysteria.
They were both stunned.
Neither had expected Harold to be so ruthless.
At that moment, Lucas pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
Less than a minute later, the door to the house swung open. Gordon stepped inside, flanked by two bodyguards in black suits.
When Faye and Georgie realized what was happening, their expressions shifted in an instant.
Georgie seized Faye’s hand, yanking her behind her protectively, and fixed Gordon with a glare brimming with fury and defiance. “What do you think you’re doing? Don’t you dare come closer! Stay back!”
