Chapter 1953
Lucas had always been the one she couldn’t forget.
Even now, he lived in her thoughts far more than she cared to admit.
But Belinda’s recent words lingered in her mind. Then came the thought of Kenia, softening her resolve and planting unease in her heart.
“Give me some time. I need to think it through,” she said quietly.
The expression on the mysterious caller’s face twisted with rage.
Things were beginning to spiral beyond control.
No, this couldn’t be allowed.
Belinda must die!
“Fine. I’ll give you time. But don’t take too long,” the voice replied at last, clipped and venomous.
Then, the line went dead.
Sarai lowered her eyes, her heart torn.
She didn’t want to squander this perfect chance to strike back at Belinda.
And yet, Belinda’s words earlier had touched something buried deep within her.
Of course, her hesitation wasn’t for Belinda’s sake, but for Kenia’s…
She believed she would need time to think about this.
Later that afternoon, Belinda met Elwood for a meal.
As she had expected, Carola joined them.
Sitting with the two of them left Belinda feeling a little uneasy. Throughout the meal, both Elwood and Carola kept eagerly piling food onto her plate.

After a while, Belinda quickly stopped them. “That’s enough! My plate’s full.”
Carola gave a sheepish laugh and replied, “Alright, alright.”
Belinda glanced at Carola, then at Elwood, her gaze flickering.
And just at that moment…
Belinda gently placed food onto Carola’s and Elwood’s plates. She said softly, “You should have some, too.”
Carola and Elwood blinked at her gesture, clearly caught off guard, then nodded with eager smiles, their faces lighting up in genuine delight. “Alright, we’ll eat.”
Seeing the happiness on their faces, Belinda was overcome by a rush of emotions.
She had never thought that such a small, almost trivial act could stir so much joy in them.
Just then, Elwood seemed to remember something. With a grave expression, he turned to Belinda and said, “Belinda, your mom has told me about what you’ve been through. Don’t you worry—we won’t let Holley and Baker get away with what they’ve done to you!”
At those words, Belinda froze. She wanted to respond, to say something in return, but in the end, she swallowed it for Carola’s sake.
She simply nodded in silence.
