Chapter 1916
Chapter1916
Belinda gave a faint nod, her lips pressed together in quiet restraint for a moment. “I understand.”
She lifted her gaze back to them. “Is there anything else?”
“No, that’s all.” Lyle shook his head slowly.
“Then I’ll be leaving.” With that, Belinda rose from the sofa, picked up her bag, and walked out without a moment’s hesitation.
Her stride was firm, unyielding, and she didn’t pause for even a second.
As the door to the private room clicked shut behind her, Mitchell let out a long, weary sigh.
He turned to Lyle. “Do you think Belinda will ever forgive us?”
“I don’t know.” Lyle shook his head. “I can’t even guess what’s going through her mind.”
After a pause, he added, “Maybe she’ll forgive us one day… but certainly not now.”
Mitchell’s face was etched with guilt. “She has every right not to forgive us, not after the way we treated her back then. Especially, last time, one of my fans even hurt her.”
Another frustrated sigh escaped him.
“Give Belinda some more time,” Lyle said quietly.
“Alright.”
At the Wright family home.
Ever since the Happer family exposed the child-swapping scandal, Baker had been unraveling.
Now, the Wright Group’s entire financial chain had snapped. Creditors were hounding them for repayment far sooner than expected, and the banks had frozen every loan.
The company couldn’t even cover its employees’ wages anymore.
On top of that, all of Wright Group’s core suppliers had cut off their deliveries, shutting down the production lines and leaving the company unable to fulfill orders.

The suppliers’ penalties were nothing compared to the massive compensation owed to clients.
Baker’s phone rang endlessly, flooded with calls.
But now, he didn’t dare answer a single one. He didn’t want to. He knew every call would only bring fresh disasters to sink him deeper into despair.
At that moment, Kylee stormed into the living room and yanked the bottle out of his hand.
Her eyes burned with anger and disappointment. “Dad! Can you stop drinking? At a time like this, shouldn’t you be looking for ways to save the company instead of drowning yourself in liquor? How does this help anything?”
Baker gave a bitter laugh. “Save the company? There is no way to save it. Tell me, what can I do now? Who would possibly help us? Your mother’s already in jail… and my company has completely collapsed! Tell me, what else is left for me to do? This is karma! If we hadn’t let such wicked thoughts consume us back then, none of this would have happened!”
Only now did Baker feel the full weight of regret.
