Chapter 1900
At that moment, her gaze drifted toward Lucas, her eyes shimmering with tenderness. “I’m also living with Lucas, and I’ve grown used to a life with him. I don’t want to be apart from him.”
As soon as the words left her lips, Lucas broke into a smile, pride and satisfaction lighting his face. He looked both triumphant and deeply content with her choice.
Carola, however, appeared crestfallen. Her disappointment was unmistakable.
She opened her mouth as if to speak, but Galen interjected, “Alright, Carola. Now that Belinda’s parentage has been confirmed, there’s no need to rush things. You’ll have plenty of time to build a bond with her.”
He knew Belinda needed space to accept the truth and adjust to everything.
After a moment of reflection, Carola mulled it over and finally nodded, though reluctantly.
The Happer family ended up spending the entire morning at Belinda’s place. After lunch, Lucas reminded them that Belinda had a night shift ahead of her and needed to rest.
Hearing that, the Happer family members took their leave.
But when Carola stepped outside Belinda’s home and sat down in the car, her eyes brimmed with tears once more.
She longed to stay by her daughter’s side.
She wanted to hold her, to spend every possible moment with her.
After all, Belinda was her own flesh and blood—the child she had brought into this world.
“Alright, Carola,” Galen murmured gently, wrapping an arm around her trembling shoulders. “We all know how badly you want to be by Belinda’s side and spend more time with her. But you’ve only just learned that you’re related. Both of you need time to adjust, don’t you think? If you push too hard, you’ll only overwhelm her. Do you understand?”
After a pause, he continued, “Besides, because of Kylee, our family’s relationship with Belinda has always been strained. She wouldn’t even talk to us before, insisting that if we crossed paths, we should pretend to be strangers. That shows just how deep the gap between her and us is. Now, of course, it’s hard for her to adapt so suddenly to this change in identity. We need to give her time, alright?”

Hearing his words, the rest of the family—except for Carola—looked uneasy.
Lyle, in particular, couldn’t hide his guilt.
Because of Kylee, Belinda had been deeply disappointed in him and Mitchell. Their relationship had sunk to its lowest point.
Thinking back on everything, Lyle was consumed by both anger and regret. He could only sigh inwardly.
Carola remained silent.
Galen continued to soothe her, saying, “What matters is that we now know Belinda is your daughter. That gives us the chance to make it up to her. There’s no need to rush things.”
At last, Carola nodded, forcing herself to accept Galen’s advice.
Inside the house, Kenia turned to Belinda and said warmly, “Belinda, it’s alright. You should go back to the Happer family. Don’t worry about me. I’ll stay here in your house. It’s quite comfortable. Just make sure you come back and visit me often.”
Though she hated the thought of Belinda leaving, she wished for nothing more than her happiness.
Belinda spoke with unwavering certainty, her words flowing without hesitation. “Grandma, I have absolutely no intention of moving out.”
