Chapter 1795
The sickening sound of steel meeting flesh filled the air.
“No!” Sarai’s palms pressed against her chest as blood began painting her white shirt in spreading crimson, and her body collapsed.
“Sarai!” Kenia’s eyes stretched wide with unspeakable fear as the devastating scene unfolded before her.
The robber stared down at his weapon, now slick with blood, and the weight of his actions sent him reeling backward in raw panic. Piercing whistle calls and the rumble of running feet suddenly erupted from the distance—security guards had caught the desperate pleas and were rushing over.
“Damn it!” the robber muttered as he wheeled around to escape, but greed made him pause long enough to snatch both the wallet and sparkling bracelet from where they lay scattered.
Kenia brushed aside Margie’s protective grip as she lurched forward on trembling legs, immediately wrapping her delicate shawl around Sarai’s wound to stem the flowing blood. “Stay with me, Sarai!”
Sarai’s eyelids fluttered open with tremendous effort, her lips quivering as she struggled to form words. “Kenia… you’re… you’re safe… that’s all that matters…” Her vision had already begun to cloud as consciousness slipped away, each word requiring monumental strength. “I am sorry… I made a mistake before… I am sorry to Belinda… and to you…”
The desperate confession remained unfinished as her head dropped to one side, awareness finally releasing its hold on her completely.
“Sarai! Sarai!” Kenia’s voice shattered with raw desperation as she turned to face the arriving security team. “Call an ambulance this instant! She’s bleeding out!”
The sight of Sarai’s pale, lifeless form caused tears to stream down Kenia’s cheeks in an unstoppable torrent.
The security team leader shouted commands for his officers to chase down the fleeing criminal and called for medical backup. Within five minutes, the ambulance arrived.

The emergency team worked with surgical precision, administering life-saving treatment to keep Sarai stable before lifting her onto the gurney with careful hands. Kenia and Margie both climbed into the ambulance.
On the way to the hospital, Kenia held Sarai’s hand. The emotions raging inside her had grown too tangled for her to sort through.
“Blood pressure is crashing fast! Prepare the adrenaline injection!” the medic called out with sharp urgency, his experienced hands adjusting the IV to pump life-giving fluids faster.
Kenia pressed her eyes closed and whispered silent prayers, hoping Sarai would be safe.
Margie’s detailed recollection came to an end. Belinda raised her eyes toward the operating room doors, her face displaying a labyrinth of emotions.
So the person battling death behind those sterile walls was Sarai. But hadn’t Sarai been kicked out of Owathe? How had she managed to slip back into the city undetected?
And how did Sarai end up at her place, coincidentally encountering a robbery involving her grandmother? Each element of this bizarre sequence felt far too perfectly timed to be a simple coincidence. Belinda couldn’t shake the deepening conviction that this matter was far from simple.
