Chapter 1928
Chapter1928
On the screen, the figure who had shoved Belinda down the slope gave her fallen phone a ruthless kick, sending it tumbling after her.
Then, with painstaking precision, the person brushed away the footprints, erasing every trace before slipping from the scene.
The video ended.
At last, Lucas discovered who had tried to end Belinda’s life before.
He turned his head slowly toward Lennon. His eyes were sharp, like steel honed to a killing edge.
His voice came out glacial, each word cutting. “So, you watched someone shove Belinda down that slope, her life hanging by a thread. And yet, you chose silence before. You pretended you hadn’t seen a thing for your own selfish gain?”
Lennon’s face went pale at that.
How could he have been too blind to realize this before?
That day, he had been flying his drone over the back of Mount Tuky when he spotted Lucas with a group of men—figures he knew only by name and reputation, men he had read about in finance columns. They had been surrounded by bodyguards as they moved toward the woods.
On instinct, Lennon had kept himself hidden.
Only when they vanished into the trees did he release his drone, tailing them from above, curiosity pulling him along. He had never imagined he would capture that scene.
When he saw Belinda being pushed, his first instinct was to tell Lucas about it. But once his wife found out, she stopped him.
She told him that the footage was priceless. If he handed it over immediately, Lucas might only reward him with some money.
But if he kept it, he could wield it when it really counted.
Lennon had never anticipated that Lucas would still offer money to buy the video eventually.
And now, confronted with Lucas’ pointed question, he had no excuse left.

“I… at that time…” Lennon faltered, the words tangling uselessly on his tongue, dying before they could form.
Lucas answered with a cold, derisive scoff.
The sound made Lennon tremble with fear.
He shuddered violently and sprang up from the sofa, bowing in frantic submission. “I’m sorry, Mr. Clark! I was wrong! I shouldn’t have let greed blind me. I ignored Ms. Wright’s safety for the sake of my own gain. I made a huge mistake!”
As his voice broke, Lennon seemed to steel himself. He drew in a shaky breath, as though forcing the decision out of his chest. “Mr. Clark, to atone for my guilt toward Ms. Wright, I’ll give up the five million. The video—it’s yours. Please… forgive me this once!”
At that moment, money meant nothing to him. He only prayed Lucas would spare him.
Lucas let the corners of his mouth lift ever so slightly before speaking in a low, even tone. “You handed me this video, revealing who pushed Belinda down the mountain. For that, I suppose I owe you thanks. The money is nothing more than what you’ve earned.”
Relief poured through Lennon’s chest at those words. He was a bit caught off guard. He hadn’t expected Lucas to react like this.
