Chapter 1816

She had never dared imagine that Belinda would grant her permission to stay in Owathe so swiftly.

Kenia’s surprised expression mirrored Sarai’s shock as she processed this sudden development.

But understanding soon dawned upon her—Belinda had made this decision entirely for her sake.

Immediately, waves of guilt and self-reproach crashed over her.

“Rest and recover.” Without offering additional words, Belinda departed the room.

As her footsteps echoed toward the elevator’s gleaming doors, Kenia’s voice suddenly rang out from behind.

“Belinda, wait!”

Belinda halted and turned to face Kenia directly.

“What’s wrong, Grandma?”

Kenia’s brows knitted together as she looked at Belinda.

“Belinda, do you really agree to Sarai staying in Owathe?”

Belinda’s head moved in confirmation.

“Absolutely. Since those words have left my lips, I refuse to retract them.”

Kenia’s expression became a battlefield of conflicting emotions.

“Belinda, I recognize that you made this decision for my sake. But I don’t want you to be unhappy because of this…”

Belinda turned to Kenia with a steady voice.

“Grandma, I’ll admit I let Sarai stay in Owathe because of you, but I’m not troubled by it, so you don’t need to worry. She saved you and Margie, and for that, I’m grateful. But repaying her with money or owing her a huge favor? That’s not how I want to handle it.” After a pause, she continued, “I get that she doesn’t want to go somewhere unfamiliar, so I allowed her to stay here. Honestly, this is the best option to repay her. I just agreed she could stay in Owathe, but that doesn’t mean we’re close again. To me, she’s still a stranger.”

Stepping closer, Belinda gently placed a hand on Kenia’s shoulder, her tone softening.

“So, don’t overthink it or worry that I’m upset. I’m truly fine.”

Kenia reflected on Belinda’s words and thought that she had a point.

Looking up, she asked hesitantly, “Belinda, are you… really not upset?”

Belinda offered a warm smile and nodded.

“I promise I’m not upset.”

Seeing the sincerity in Belinda’s expression, Kenia felt her worries ease.

After walking Kenia back to Sarai’s hospital room and sharing a few more words of reassurance, Belinda headed back to the Cardiac Surgery Department.

When she was alone inside the elevator, her smile slowly vanished.

She had noticed the relief on Kenia’s face when she mentioned letting Sarai stay.

It was clear Kenia wanted Sarai to stay.

Belinda understood her, but she couldn’t help feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Still, she quickly adjusted her emotions.
