Chapter 1831
The revelations from today crashed over her like relentless waves, making it difficult for her to process.
After lunch, Lucas drove Belinda back to the hospital.
As the vehicle came to a gentle stop, he turned toward her with tender eyes and said, “Don’t overthink this. I’ll always be there for you, no matter what.”
Belinda drew her lips into a thin line and then responded with quiet determination, “All right.”
“Head to work now, and I’ll pick you up when your shift ends.” Lucas leaned across the space between them and pressed his lips softly against her forehead in a kiss.
Belinda offered him a gentle smile, chose silence over words, and stepped out of the car.
Throughout the remaining hours of her workday, however, she found her thoughts drifting back to the matter.
She wrestled with gnawing doubts about whether there was truly something amiss about her parentage. Was she really Holley and Baker’s daughter?
The answer hinged entirely on whether Lucas’ people could locate the physicians and nurses who had assisted during Holley’s delivery all those years ago.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
At dawn’s first light, Tamara assembled every member of the Wright family and went to Baker’s house.
At Baker’s place.
Carola felt her brow crease into deep furrows as she looked at the group of people in front of her.
Her emotions tangled into knots as she saw Tamara and Nalani again after all these years.
Against her will, her mind dragged her back to that painful moment years ago when Tamara had fixed her with eyes full of disgust and scorn, treating her as though she were something vile and worthless, each look slicing through her very soul.
The memory had carved itself deep into her mind.
Steeling herself, Carola looked at the Wright family with an expression carved from stone, her voice cutting through the morning air.

“What brings you all here?”
Tamara’s gaze landed on Carola.
Her features darkened immediately, making her intense dislike for Carola unmistakably clear to everyone present.
Her voice then cut through the tension as she announced, “This morning brought us the paternity test results for Kylee and my son. We’ve come to deliver them to you.”
When Carola heard that, her eyebrows drew together once more, though comprehension soon dawned across her features.
Given Tamara’s cautious nature, it was quite normal for her to decide on another paternity test.
Tamara reached into her handbag, retrieved the paternity test report, and placed it on the coffee table’s polished surface.
“You can take a look.”
