Chapter 1841
Holley’s decisions, the early delivery, the request for special care… they all hinted at something deeper.
He straightened slightly, eyes fixed on the woman now.
“What about the child? Do you remember anything unusual? A birthmark, perhaps? Any distinct feature?”
“A birthmark…” the woman muttered, trying to recall again.
“Yes! Actually, yes, there was one. The baby didn’t cry when she came out, so I had to turn her over and give her a firm bottom pat. That’s when I saw it—a dark red birthmark, right on the lower right side of her back.”
Lucas’ expression shifted in an instant at that.
A dark red birthmark… right lower back.
But Lucas was certain that Belinda had no birthmarks. His gaze snapped back to the woman.
“Are you sure about that?”
The woman met his stare with a firm nod.
“Yes, I’m sure.”
Lucas’ eyes narrowed slightly.
“Alright, I understand.”
With that, he raised his hand slightly—a signal to Gordon. Catching the cue, Gordon moved forward and politely escorted the woman out of the room.
As the door clicked shut behind them, silence fell over the reception lounge like a heavy blanket.
A few minutes passed before Gordon returned.
He approached Lucas quietly.
“Mr. Clark, did you discover something off?”
But from the man’s face, he already knew the answer.
Lucas’ voice was low and ragged as he spoke.
“Send someone to collect fresh blood samples from Holley and Baker.”

Gordon was stunned.
It appeared Lucas held doubts about Belinda’s parentage.
“Yes, I’m on it,” Gordon replied softly. With that, he pivoted and walked away.
That night, upon returning home and stepping into their bedroom with Lucas, Belinda gently clasped his hand, her voice tinged with worry.
“Lucas, what’s troubling you? You seem distracted today. Did something happen?”
Lucas returned her grip, guiding her to the couch and sitting down with her.
After a moment, he said, “Belinda, today, Gordon tracked down a doctor who was present during Holley’s delivery. She shared some unexpected details.”
Belinda’s expression grew serious, her eyes locked on Lucas.
“What details?”
Lucas recounted everything the doctor had revealed that day.
“A birthmark on the lower right back?” Belinda’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“I… I don’t have one.”
