Chapter 1933

Chapter1933

He clutched her tightly.

Belinda, circling her arms around his waist, felt a tide of emotions surge within her.

She knew the torment that knotted Lucas’ heart.

The one who had pushed her down the slope was his own niece—the daughter his sister cherished, the girl he had grown up with.

How could he treat her like any other person who had provoked him?

Realizing Lucas’ inner struggle tore at Belinda.

At last, after some hesitation, Belinda seemed to have reached a decision.

Taking in a breath, she slipped free from Lucas’ embrace. Her eyes locked on his, grave and unwavering. “Lucas, maybe… we can just let the matter go.”

Those words made Lucas’ eyes widen in shock.

Before Lucas could speak, Belinda pressed on, her voice calm but firm. “At that time, I was only a little hurt. It wasn’t anything serious. So… let’s just put it behind us.”

Deep inside, she didn’t want to let Faye off.

That woman had wanted her dead! How could she simply let such malice slide away so easily?

She wasn’t a saint, after all.

But… she couldn’t stand watching Lucas torn apart in pain. And she really didn’t want to burden him with this.

Her words left Lucas stunned, silent for a long while.

He felt deeply touched.

He knew Belinda had said those words only to ease the weight on his shoulders.

The thought that Belinda could forgive someone who had tried to kill her just for his sake filled him with joy. It revealed, more than anything, just how deeply he mattered to her.

And yet, the more she acted this way, the stronger his resolve became not to let her feel any grievance.

He admitted he was tangled in a dilemma about how exactly to deal with Faye.

But that hesitation was only about the method—not the decision itself. He was determined to punish her.

He had sworn to protect Belinda, and he would never allow anyone who hurt her to go unpunished, no matter who they were.

“Belinda… thank you.” Lucas leaned in and pressed a tender kiss against her forehead. “But this isn’t something we can just let go. Faye has to pay for what she’s done.”

His voice turned lower. “Leave this to me.”

After a pause, he added, “No need to worry; it doesn’t trouble me at all.”

“But—” Belinda frowned, ready to argue, when Lucas cut her off. “No buts. Just let me handle it, alright?”

Belinda pressed her lips together before finally giving a nod. “Okay.”

With a faint smile, Lucas tapped the tip of her nose lightly with his fingertip.

Belinda curled her fingers around his hand and said, “Today, Elwood came to see me.”

Lucas arched an eyebrow. “Really? Does he suspect you might be his biological daughter?”
