Chapter 1957
Lucas cast a glance at Belinda, then to Elwood and Carola, before speaking again. “Now that the truth about Belinda’s past is settled, our first concern should be uncovering the scheme that framed Carola all those years ago. That single incident forced your separation, pushed Carola into marrying Baker out of despair, and set off the chain of events that followed. The true culprit is the one who orchestrated that.”
At Lucas’ words, Elwood and Carola exchanged a knowing look. Though Elwood’s memories had not yet returned, he was certain Carola had never betrayed him. He trusted the judgment he’d once made.
Even after years of losing his memory, merely hearing Carola’s name stirred a feeling deep within him, proof that she had never truly left his heart.
After steadying himself, Elwood said, “I’ve already sent people to investigate the matter, but so much time has passed that most traces have been wiped away. As for Tasha, my men are watching her, too, but so far, nothing concrete has surfaced. Still… I intend to stir the waters and see if she makes a move.”
Lucas said calmly, “If you need my help, just say the word.”
Elwood looked at him, a faint smile curving his lips. “Alright.”
Then, he turned toward Belinda, his voice carrying a quiet hope. “Belinda, would you… accompany me to the Wright family now?”
Hearing those words, Belinda pressed her lips together, hesitated for a moment, then gave a firm nod. “Okay.”
A broad smile spread across Elwood’s face. “Great.”
He then shifted his gaze to Carola.
Carola’s pupils contracted slightly, a thought forming in her mind.
Did Elwood mean to take her to the Wright family as well?
Seemingly guessing what she was thinking, Elwood said, “We should go back together.”
Carola’s brow furrowed ever so slightly, a trace of reluctance showing in her expression.

Ever since that old incident, she had carried a deep aversion toward the rest of the Wright family, with no wish to face them again.
But under the hopeful eyes of both Belinda and Elwood, her resistance began to melt away.
She eventually gave a small nod. “Alright.”
Elwood’s face brightened. Before he could say something, Belinda spoke.
