Chapter 1952

Belinda had said her piece. What came next was no longer in her control.

She could only hope Sarai would stop herself before it was too late, that she wouldn’t let her own stubbornness and resentment destroy everything.

Belinda exhaled deeply and walked away without once looking back.

Sarai sat frozen in place, her mind spinning with the weight of Belinda’s words.

She had never expected Belinda to say something like that to her.

Belinda said she would let go of the past… Did that mean even letting go of the matter of her drugging and plotting against Lucas?

But could Belinda really keep her word?

Or was she simply trying to lull her into letting down her guard?

Sarai didn’t know. Yet, she couldn’t deny it—something in Belinda’s words had struck her deeply.

Just then, Sarai’s phone buzzed.

She drew out her second phone and glanced at the screen. The caller ID showed “Unknown Number.” Her brows furrowed, conflict flickering in her eyes.

After some hesitation, she still answered the call. “Hello.”

“Everything is ready on my end. When are you going to make your move?” The voice on the other side of the phone was cold, mechanical.

At the sound of it, Sarai’s breath caught for a moment. After a pause, she said, “Um… let’s hold off for now. Neither Kenia nor Belinda has placed full trust in me yet. If we act too soon, the plan might fall apart.”

Her answer was met with silence.

After what felt like an eternity, the voice finally spoke again, slow and cutting. “Sarai, you’re wavering.”

“I’m not,” Sarai shot back quickly. “I just want to be certain before we take the next step. I’ve already failed once, and I refuse to repeat that mistake. This time, I have to be careful.”

A low, humorless laugh drifted from the other end. “Sarai, have you forgotten who’s to blame for the mess you’re in? Do you remember the life you lived in Soling? Tell me, do you want to go back to living that kind of life again?”

The words made Sarai’s eyes flicker, but she didn’t falter. Belinda had already promised her a place in Owathe and visits with Kenia.

As long as Kenia was by her side, her life wouldn’t be too bad.

“I haven’t forgotten,” she answered flatly.

Yet despite her steady tone, her hesitation to act on the plan was obvious.

Moreover, when the topic of the past was brought up again, Sarai’s tone was noticeably less indignant and resentful.

This was unacceptable!

The caller drew in a sharp breath before continuing, “And Lucas… don’t you still want him?”

At that name, Sarai’s chest tightened, her breathing grew heavy, and her eyes betrayed the storm within.
