Chapter 1950
Belinda’s initial instinct demanded refusal, but a sudden thought sparked within her mind, causing her eyes to flicker with something unreadable.
“You can meet me at Happer Restaurant,” Belinda said directly. She would entertain this meeting, but she needed to be the one to choose the location.
Since she didn’t trust Sarai in the slightest, she couldn’t possibly go somewhere Sarai had picked.
Who could predict what elaborate traps might await her arrival that way?
Sarai’s surprised silence stretched across the line as she processed Belinda’s words. She soon realized that Belinda didn’t trust her. This realization caused her eyes to narrow.
Nevertheless, Belinda’s willingness to meet at all caught her somewhat off guard, given their complicated history.
“Very well, I will make my way there immediately,” Sarai replied.
Hearing that, Belinda soon ended the call.
She returned to her room for swift preparation before getting into her car and leaving.
At Happer Restaurant.
Sarai had just entered when Belinda arrived.
Once they were both seated, Belinda didn’t bother with pleasantries and asked straight away, “So, what do you want?”
Sarai’s gaze met Belinda’s with carefully crafted sincerity. “Belinda, I came here to offer both my deepest apologies and heartfelt gratitude to you. What happened with Mr. Clark was my fault. My actions demonstrated complete thoughtlessness in pursuing something so wrong. Even afterward, I didn’t repent and even tried to hold leverage over Holley to continue to threaten her, asking her for money. I cannot comprehend how I descended to such despicable behavior! My actions were absolutely inexcusable!”
Sarai gazed at Belinda with unguarded sincerity, her eyes shimmering with hope. “Belinda, I don’t expect a few words from me to earn your forgiveness. I only felt it was necessary to see you in person, to apologize and say that I’m truly sorry. And if you’d allow me to remain here in Owathe, instead of casting me out, I would be deeply grateful.”
Belinda’s graceful face remained perfectly calm, untouched by the weight of Sarai’s appeal.
Though Sarai spoke with sincerity, Belinda’s heart was unmoved.
With quiet composure, she lifted her gaze and met Sarai’s eyes. “Holley is not my biological mother; there’s no blood tying us together.”
The sudden revelation had nothing to do with what Sarai had been trying to say.
Sarai’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at Belinda in disbelief.
She had never imagined that Holley was not Belinda’s true mother, nor that Belinda would tell her this.
What on earth was happening?
“Holley isn’t your biological mother, then—”
Belinda cut her off, her tone soft yet resolute. “My real mother is Carola. Kylee is Holley’s true daughter. Back then, Holley and Baker schemed together to switch me with Kylee.”
Sarai’s jaw fell open, her shock swiftly giving way to fury. “What? How could something like that happen? Holley and Baker—how could they commit such a monstrous act!”
Belinda said, “That wasn’t the end of it. Later, Holley even tried to drug me, to ruin my life completely. Now, she has been sent to prison, condemned to spend countless years behind bars, suffering through every single day.”
