Chapter 1947
But even so, Lucas had not hesitated to stand firmly by her.
That alone was enough for her.
Looking at Lucas, Belinda softened her voice. “Let’s go home.”
“Alright.” Lucas gave a single nod.
They descended the mountain together, and once they reached the bottom, they climbed into the car to head home.
Georgie, meanwhile, rushed to the hospital near Mount Tuky the instant she received the news.
By the time she arrived, dawn was already breaking.
She rushed into the ward, and at the sight of Faye lying there with bandages wrapped across her face, tears welled up uncontrollably in her eyes.
“Faye! My daughter…” she cried, rushing to the bedside.
“Mom!” The moment Faye saw her, she broke down in sobs.
They clung tightly to each other, their weeping raw and unrestrained.
Through her tears, Faye choked out, “Mom! I was so scared! I really thought I’d never see you again! Uncle Lucas was so cruel!”
Georgie pulled back from Faye and asked softly, “Tell me, what did Lucas do to you? And what happened to your face—how were you hurt?”
With her teeth pressing against her lip, Faye muttered, “I can hardly believe it myself… Uncle Lucas had people push me down the hill! He wanted me to feel the same pain Belinda had suffered before.”
The memory jolted her, and a shiver rippled through her frame. She was still shaken, unable to bear revisiting it.

“What?” Georgie’s expression shifted at once. She stared at Faye in utter disbelief, her mind struggling to grasp her words.
Lucas… really had people push Faye down the hill?
Was he out of his mind?
How could he have done something like that? Did he not understand that Faye might have died?
And for the sake of an outsider, he had been willing to show such cruelty to his own niece.
He was so heartless!
“At that moment, when I was shoved, I truly thought I was going to die. I thought I’d never see you again,” Faye cried, tears streaming freely, her terror still written across her face.
Georgie reached out, her hand moving gently across Faye’s back. “It’s alright. It’s over now. Lucas won’t lay a hand on you again.”
“I hope you’re right,” Faye muttered, her voice tinged with hurt. She lifted her tear-streaked face to Georgie. “Mom, why… why has Uncle Lucas turned so cold toward me? He was never like this before. Everything changed after Belinda appeared. Why doesn’t he care about me anymore? I just don’t understand!”
Georgie’s heart sank at Faye’s words.
Harold’s warning earlier echoed in her mind.
