Chapter 1943

Chapter1943

Harold’s furious gaze bore into her as he unleashed a storm of scolding. “Your daughter has committed something utterly wrong! And as her mother, you’ve failed to raise her to become a good person! Yet now, you still shamelessly defend her, saying she’s just a child, and that Belinda wasn’t harmed. It’s absurd! Is this what I’ve been teaching you to do since you were a child?”

He stopped, breath heaving with anger, before pressing on. “Earlier, I bit back my words for the sake of your dignity in front of Lucas and Belinda. But even now, after they left, you refuse to acknowledge Faye’s wrongdoing! Worse, you use her youth as an excuse! Is she some infant of a few months or a helpless toddler? No!”

Georgie, under the weight of his reprimand, was unable to speak.

Before she could muster a reply, Harold’s voice struck again. “Have you ever stopped to think about why Faye wanted Belinda dead?”

Georgie’s lips tightened before she managed to answer, “Faye told me herself—it was because after Belinda appeared, Lucas no longer doted on her the way he used to. That’s why she acted out of impulse.”

Harold’s expression darkened further. “And you actually believe that? You truly think she would go so far as to try to kill someone because of that?”

Georgie blinked, her confusion plain. “What else could it be? Faye has always been close to Lucas. But once Belinda came into the picture, everything changed. Lucas grew distant from Faye and stopped treating her with the same affection. She felt abandoned.”

Harold leaned forward, his tone sharp. “Don’t you see how twisted her dependence on Lucas has become? Can’t you recognize that her feelings for him go far beyond the bounds of family affection?”

At that, Georgie’s face changed instantly, her voice breaking with shock. “Dad, what are you suggesting? Are you saying… Faye has feelings for Lucas?”

Harold’s reply came without hesitation. “It isn’t only me who thinks so! Norma believes it, Belinda senses it, and even Lucas feels the same way!”

Georgie’s face went deathly pale. She stared at Harold in stunned silence, struggling to comprehend his words.

After a moment, she shook her head violently. “No! That’s impossible! Faye is Lucas’ niece! How could she ever harbor such feelings for him?”

Harold fixed her with a complicated look. “You and I both know the truth—Faye shares no blood with the Clark family. Now, it makes sense why Lucas once asked me if she was truly your biological daughter. Perhaps, at that time, he had already begun to suspect that Faye’s affection for him was something more than familial.”

Georgie’s breath caught, her voice trembling. “Lucas… he actually asked about Faye’s parentage before?”

Harold gave a slow nod. “I didn’t admit anything at the time, but I’m certain he investigated afterward. By now, he likely already knows the truth—Faye isn’t your biological daughter.”

He paused, steadying himself before delivering his final words with absolute conviction. “More than that, I believe Faye has known for a long time that she isn’t your flesh and blood.”
