Chapter 1942

Chapter1942

Gordon flicked his gaze toward Lucas. Lucas remained utterly composed, his face unreadable, not sparing Gordon even a glance. That silence was answer enough.

With a curt nod, Gordon signaled, and the two men in black moved in on Faye.

Georgie’s features twisted with a mixture of terror and rage. She retreated with Faye behind her in frantic steps, her voice breaking as she screamed at Gordon and his men, “Stop this! Don’t you dare lay a hand on us! I won’t allow it! Get out! Get out right now!”

Gordon came to a halt directly in front of her, while the bodyguards lunged past, reaching straight for Faye.

“No! Don’t touch my daughter! Get your hands off her!” Georgie’s cries and Faye’s frantic resistance were no match for the bodyguards. The two men clamped down on Faye, one gripping each arm, dragging her toward the door.

Faye exclaimed, “Mom! Save me! Please—Grandpa, Grandma, help me! Uncle Lucas, I swear I was wrong! Please don’t let them take me away!”

Her desperate wails rang out across the living room.

Tears welled in Georgie’s eyes as she panicked, clutching at Lucas’ hand. “Lucas, she’s your niece! What do you plan to do to her? Please, let her go; I’m begging you!”

But Lucas coldly pried her fingers off. Straightening the front of his jacket, he leveled an icy look at her. “Don’t worry. I won’t kill her.”

Then, without another word, he took Belinda’s hand in his own and walked out.

Two cars waited in the driveway outside the mansion. Lucas and Belinda stepped into one, while Gordon, the bodyguards, and the struggling Faye piled into the other.

As the vehicles rolled away from the estate, Belinda finally spoke. “Lucas, where are we going?”

“You’ll know soon enough,” Lucas answered.

Belinda gave a faint nod and fell silent.

Back inside the house, Georgie paced the living room in a storm of restless steps, her eyes swollen and red with tears. She then turned fiercely toward Harold and Norma, her voice sharp with blame.

“Dad, Norma—why didn’t either of you speak up for Faye? She’s your granddaughter! How could you just watch while Lucas’ men dragged her off? Who knows what he intends to do to her?”

Harold replied in an even tone, “Faye has committed her wrongs, and she must face the consequences. Lucas knows what he’s doing.”

Georgie’s voice rose, her words frantic. “But Faye already admitted she was wrong! Why can’t you forgive her, just this once? She’s still just a child—”

“Stop saying she’s still a child!” Harold’s voice cracked like a whip, cutting her off. His eyes hardened. “You’ve spoiled her beyond reason! What she did wasn’t childish mischief; it was vicious. She deliberately tried to kill Belinda! And you think that’s something we can just overlook?”

Harold exploded in a fit of rage, the force of it making Georgie tremble slightly.

Her complexion drained of color in an instant.
