Chapter 1940
Chapter1940
“Georgie, do you even realize what you’re saying?” Harold’s voice cut in, stern and thunderous.
Georgie refused to answer her father, keeping her gaze locked firmly on Lucas.
She wanted to see, with her own eyes, whether her brother would really go against her for his ex-wife.
Belinda knitted her brows tightly, her face shadowed with worry as she looked at Georgie.
She could clearly sense that Georgie was pushing Lucas into a corner, forcing him to make a choice between them.
For a brief moment, every pair of eyes turned toward Lucas.
Lucas’ expression, however, remained calm and unchanged. He, too, was watching Georgie. “Are you threatening me?” he asked. His tone was even, steady, and entirely devoid of emotion.
Georgie shot back with arrogance, her voice dripping with coldness, “You can think of it that way.”
Lucas let out a low chuckle. “Well then… I’ll answer you. I would still choose to go against you.”
A stunned silence instantly fell over the vast living room.
Every face turned toward Lucas in disbelief; they were startled by the bluntness of his words.
Georgie’s pupils suddenly widened, her stare locked on Lucas. It was as if an unseen hand had seized her throat, leaving her utterly voiceless.
Lucas gave a light, dismissive scoff, his tone steady as he said, “Mrs. Sandoval, surely you understand by now—I don’t bow to threats.”
He paused briefly, not granting Georgie the chance to speak, before continuing, “Do you have anything else to say? If not, I’ll be taking Faye with me now.”
“Lucas!” Georgie’s composure cracked, her voice breaking apart under the strain. She leapt from the sofa, her eyes wide with disbelief, her voice trembling.
Lucas paid her no attention whatsoever. Without sparing her even a glance, he rose from the sofa.

“Lucas!” Georgie rushed forward, reaching out desperately to grasp his hand. “I was wrong—I shouldn’t have said those things! Lucas, I beg you, please spare Faye this time! She truly knows she was wrong. I promise—no, I swear—nothing like this will ever happen again!”
At last, Georgie yielded, realizing that threats held no sway over Lucas. She had no choice left but to plead.
No sooner had Georgie spoken than Faye lurched forward, still sobbing through her tears. “Uncle Lucas, I know what I did was unforgivable! But I truly regret it! I lost control at that moment, and that’s why I did something so malicious… I’m begging you, please forgive me this once! I swear on my life it won’t happen again!”
Georgie and her daughter circled around Lucas, desperate, pleading, their voices thick with apology as they begged for his mercy.
Yet in all their groveling, they overlooked the most important truth—that Belinda was the victim in the matter, not Lucas.
In their minds, as long as Lucas could be convinced to let the matter slide, then everything could be swept neatly under the rug. Whether Belinda had been wronged or not was of no concern to them.
A cold laugh slipped from Lucas’ lips.
