Chapter 1939
Chapter1939
She went pale instantly, her courage drained away.
Unable to speak, she could only turn helplessly toward her mother, wearing a pitiful look.
Georgie frowned, gathering herself. “Yes, I know Faye was wrong. When we return home, I’ll make sure she’s disciplined properly. I promise she’ll never dare to do something like this again.”
Her eyes were fixed on Lucas. “Lucas, isn’t this punishment enough? What else do you want from her? Belinda is perfectly fine now. Surely you’re not saying Faye should pay with her life or something?”
At that, Belinda’s temper snapped.
Her fiery gaze landed on Georgie, and a cold, incredulous laugh escaped her lips. “Mrs. Sandoval, your words truly amuse me. What are you trying to say? That I’m standing here unharmed because Faye somehow showed me mercy? Did she pull back at the last second and spare me? No. If that’s your logic, then what’s stopping me from walking into the kitchen right now, grabbing a knife, and stabbing Faye? As long as she doesn’t die, as long as she walks away without lasting injuries, then I can be forgiven, right? Is that what you’re saying?”
The sheer absurdity of her reasoning was undeniable, yet Georgie had had the audacity to voice it.
At Belinda’s retort, Georgie’s expression shifted at once. Her voice snagged halfway, lodged in her throat, leaving her unable to form a reply.
She didn’t dare say “yes.” What if Belinda actually carried out her threat?
Harold’s face hardened as he turned on Georgie, his tone steeped in both disappointment and anger. “Georgie, how could you speak such words? I’m very disappointed in you! You’re almost fifty years old, yet you have lost your basic sense of right and wrong.”
Georgie stiffened, her voice faltering. “Dad, I—”
But Harold cut her off with a sharp wave of his hand. “Enough! Not another word from you!”
Then, his gaze shifted to Faye, stern and unyielding. “Everyone must face the weight of their own actions. It doesn’t matter who they are or whether they claim to understand their mistakes. Tell me—can an apology truly erase the harm done to a victim?”

Harold’s words carried the weight of finality, making it clear he intended to discipline Faye and would not let her off easily.
Harold and Lucas both siding with Belinda?
That was disastrous!
At once, both Faye and Georgie felt their hearts sink in unison.
Georgie fixed her eyes on Lucas and demanded, “So, Lucas, no matter what, you’re determined to punish Faye and stand up for your woman? Even if I insist on shielding Faye today, would you still go against me, your own sister?”
Her voice climbed higher at the end, brimming with sharp defiance and veiled threat.
Faye silently cheered for Georgie in her heart.
She clung to the belief that Lucas could never turn his back on his own blood for the sake of Belinda.
Harold’s and Norma’s faces immediately hardened, darkening like storm clouds.
