Chapter 1936
Chapter1936
Could it be… he had figured something out?
No, that couldn’t be possible.
“I’m fine,” Belinda answered softly. “I was fortunate. When I was pushed, there happened to be a pit right beside me, and I fell into it instead of tumbling all the way down the slope. If I had… I might not be alive to sit here now.”
Even as she spoke, the memory made her tremble faintly.
Harold and Norma exchanged grim looks, their faces darkening. Harold slammed his palm against the table, rage burning in his eyes. “Who did it?”
He turned sharply to Lucas and asked, “Lucas, did you catch the culprit?”
Lucas said nothing at first. His gaze, cool and piercing, shifted slowly—until it landed squarely on Faye.
The moment their eyes locked, Faye’s entire body stiffened. She stared at Lucas in disbelief, her face paling. “Uncle Lucas… why are you looking at me like this? What’s that supposed to mean? Don’t tell me… you think I was the one who pushed Belinda?”
Lucas stayed silent.
Harold’s face grew more severe by the second. His tone dropped into a grim demand. “Lucas! What exactly are you trying to say?”
Lucas’ lips curved into a cold, cutting smirk. “Why don’t you ask Faye—ask her why she shoved Belinda down that slope.”
“Faye?” Georgie swung around to face her daughter, shock flashing across her features. Then, she said, “That’s impossible! Lucas, you must be mistaken. Faye would never do something so vile!”
Faye’s eyes turned red in an instant. She bit down hard on her lip, her voice breaking as though her heart itself had cracked. “Uncle Lucas… how could you possibly think it was me? I swear, I had nothing to do with it.”
The moment Lucas spoke, Faye’s heart began to pound with nervous tension.
Still, she told herself that the more critical the moment, the calmer she had to appear. She couldn’t allow panic to betray her.

Especially now—without knowing what evidence Lucas held—she couldn’t afford to lose her composure.
Unlike Faye and her mother’s unease, Harold remained composed.
He knew his son well; if Lucas had spoken with such certainty, then there had to be solid proof.
With that thought, he cast Faye a cold glance before turning to his son. “Lucas, what evidence do you have?”
Georgie jumped in at once, glaring at Lucas with anger. “Yes, Lucas! You’re claiming Faye pushed Belinda down the slope. Do you even have proof? You can’t just throw around baseless accusations. Or has someone been feeding you lies?”
As she said this, she deliberately threw a pointed glance at Belinda.
It was clear she wanted to pin the blame on Belinda.
Without hesitation, Lucas pulled out his phone, found the video, and set it down on the coffee table.
Harold was the first to pick it up and press play.
The moment her eyes fell on the device, Faye’s expression faltered.
She had no idea what kind of evidence was stored inside that phone, and the uncertainty gnawed at her nerves.
