Chapter 1934
Chapter1934
Belinda nodded. “Yes. He told me Carola visited him earlier today and mentioned the matter. She even took his blood for testing. Now, we’re just waiting on the paternity test results. But he said… he’s almost certain that I am his daughter.”
Speaking of it, she felt a spark of joy flicker in her heart.
“Let’s wait for the results,” Lucas said gently. “Once they’re out, you’ll know for certain whether he is your real father.”
Belinda lowered her gaze and murmured, “Yes. That’s exactly what I told Elwood. Until the results are in, everything is still uncertain. I keep reminding myself not to get too hopeful too soon. What if the outcome turns out completely different from what we expect?”
In moments like this, she knew she should stay composed, not expecting too much.
Lucas nodded in agreement. “I agree. That’s the right way to think about it.”
They lingered in conversation for a while longer before each went to wash up.
That night, Lucas didn’t sleep well at all, but he never shifted from his position, not wanting to disturb Belinda.
By morning, the shadows beneath his eyes were clear for anyone to see.
Once he arrived at the office, he immediately called his sister.
The call connected after a pause. “Hello, Lucas.”
Lucas didn’t bother with small talk; he cut straight to business. “Georgie, you need to come back to the family estate today. Come alone. There’s something important I need to speak with you about.”
At once, Georgie’s body went rigid. Her voice quickened with alarm. “What’s wrong? Did something happen to Dad and Norma?”
“It has nothing to do with them,” Lucas replied evenly.
Georgie’s anxiety only deepened. She pressed on. “Then… Is it about Faye?”
“You’ll know when you get back. Remember—just you, and no one else.” With that, Lucas ended the call, giving her no chance to say another word.
A heavy unease settled in Georgie’s chest, the certainty forming in her mind that this had to be about her daughter.

Gripped by that thought, she immediately dialed Faye’s number. After what felt like forever, Faye finally picked up. “Mom, what’s going on?”
Georgie’s tone was tinged with worry. “Faye, tell me the truth—have you done anything lately that might have upset your uncle?”
Faye froze, her face flashing with pure confusion, her eyes wide with innocence. “No! Of course not. Why would you even think that? Did something happen?”
“No? Are you absolutely sure?” Georgie asked, her brows furrowing tight. “If that’s the case, then why did your uncle specifically ask for only me to meet him at the family estate today? I could hear it in his tone; it must be something important. Faye, if something really happened, don’t keep me in the dark. Tell me now so I can be prepared.”
Faye’s nerves coiled tight at her mother’s words.
A sudden wave of dread swept over her.
But she hadn’t done anything recently!
Still, she couldn’t ignore the feeling that Lucas was slowly pulling away from her.
Wait! Could it be… he actually wanted her mother to drag her back home, forbidding her from staying in Owathe?
