Chapter 1930

Chapter1930

Elwood stared at Belinda standing before him, unable to describe the storm of emotions inside him.

This was his daughter—his real daughter.

The very child Carola had given him.

Though the results of the paternity test had yet to be revealed, the instant his eyes met Belinda’s face, he knew—she was his flesh and blood.

Belinda pressed her lips together, her voice calm and steady as she asked, “Mr. Wright, is there something you need from me?”

Her distant formality and that cold title of “Mr. Wright” left a bitter ache lodged in Elwood’s chest.

Instead of answering her question, he asked, “Belinda, do you have a moment now? Could we go somewhere quiet to talk?”

After a short pause, Belinda let out a faint sigh before replying, “Follow me.”

With that, she led Elwood toward the rear garden.

When they finally stopped, she turned to him and said evenly, “What do you want to talk to me about?”

Elwood began carefully, “Belinda, Carola has already told me the truth about your parentage…”

At his words, Belinda lowered her gaze and murmured softly, “Yes.”

Elwood continued, “Today, Carola came to see me again. She took my blood sample and sent it with yours for a paternity test.”

Belinda gave a small nod.

In truth, when Lucas had first suspected she was Carola’s child, he had already dispatched people to collect blood samples from both Carola and Elwood for tests with her.

But in the end, they had only managed to secure Carola’s.

Perhaps because of the incident with Kylee, Elwood had grown extremely wary, guarding his blood samples so tightly that even Lucas’ people had failed to obtain one.

And so, up to this moment, no one could say with absolute certainty that Elwood was truly Belinda’s father.

Then, all of a sudden, Elwood spoke with quiet remorse. “Belinda, I owe you an apology for what happened before…”

Belinda looked at him with confusion. “What are you apologizing for?”

Elwood’s brows knitted together, his expression heavy with regret. “Back then, I told you we shouldn’t dine together anymore. But the truth is, I hated myself the moment those words left my mouth. It’s just that—”

Before he could finish, Belinda interjected gently, “I understand. At that time, you believed Kylee was your biological daughter, and with the conflict between her and me, it was natural for you to want to keep your distance from me. I don’t hold it against you, so there’s no need for apologies.”

She paused, her lips pressing into a thin line before she added, “Besides, the paternity test results aren’t in yet. I might not be your daughter.”

“You are—without question!” Elwood blurted out.

Belinda lifted her eyes toward him, a faint shimmer of emotion dancing in their depths.
