Chapter 1922
Chapter1922
“They asked me to meet them today specifically to apologize,” she explained. “And today, I also learned something new—back then, Lyle and Mitchell never drove that stray cat away. Instead, they actually found it a proper home with someone who would take care of it. These days, that cat is thriving—safe, happy, and well looked after.”
Lucas listened in silence, his brows knitting ever so slightly. He hadn’t expected Lyle and Mitchell to treat his Belinda like that in the past.
It was outrageous!
“What do you think about this?” Lucas finally asked, his gaze steady.
“I don’t know.” Belinda shook her head slowly. “Lyle and Mitchell admitted they had wronged me back then and said sorry to me. They also told me the stray cat has been living well all these years. But… even so, it still doesn’t sit right with me.”
Her lips pressed into a thin line for a moment, her tone grave. “The hurt they caused me isn’t something that can just be erased with an apology. Even knowing now that they’re my cousins, I still don’t want to forgive them. I don’t want to have anything to do with them.”
“Then don’t bother with them,” Lucas replied without hesitation. “As you said yourself, the pain they caused isn’t something an apology could ever make up for. You don’t owe them anything, even for the sake of some so-called family ties. Do whatever makes you happy, and don’t let the matter weigh you down. Got it?”
Belinda gave a small nod. “Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, too. That’s why I’m not about to forgive them so easily. I’d rather not talk to them at all.” Her voice carried a touch of anger.
Lucas gave a slight nod, his tone carrying a teasing edge. “Exactly. Just ignore them. Let your actions speak for themselves. Back then, they barely spared you a glance. Now, you can treat them the same way.”
Belinda chuckled at that.
Once she sorted the matter out in her heart, her mood lifted, and that night, she slept soundly.
The next day.

Inside a quiet private room at a café.
Elwood sat across from Carola, still somewhat surprised by her unexpected invitation.
He hadn’t thought she’d reach out to him.
Elwood cleared his throat, speaking before she could. “Carola, you—”
But Carola cut him off without a moment’s pause, saying, “Elwood, I need your blood sample.”
Elwood’s brows drew together. “My blood sample?”
Carola’s tone was direct and unyielding. “Yes. I need your blood and my daughter’s for a paternity test.”
Elwood exhaled softly, his voice low. “Carola, I know you’ve been doing everything in your power to prove that your daughter is mine. But… we’ve already done several tests. Kylee isn’t my child.”
Carola’s lips tightened. “Who said my daughter is Kylee?”
“What?” Elwood was stunned, staring at her in disbelief. “Carola, what do you mean by that?”
Carola made no attempt to conceal the truth. “I only recently discovered that Kylee isn’t my daughter at all. She’s the child of Baker and Holley! Back when I gave birth, they bribed the doctor and the nurses. They made sure I blacked out the moment after my delivery. And when I finally woke up, my baby had already been swapped for another!”
