Chapter 1917
Chapter1917
Kylee sank onto the sofa, her spirit crumbling under the truth of his words.
The family business had collapsed entirely. Her mother was behind bars, awaiting trial.
And with the Happer family and Belinda harboring such deep hatred for Holley, there was no chance they would show her any mercy.
Whether Holley would be sentenced to years, decades, or perhaps even a life in prison, it was still unknown.
At that moment, Kylee launched herself across the room toward Carola, her knees striking the cold floor as desperation consumed her voice. “Mom! I’m pleading with every fiber of my being, please let Dad off!”
“I am not your mother!” Carola’s gaze pierced through her like shards of ice.
Kylee pressed her teeth into her lower lip, her shoulders hunching inward as she gazed up at Carola with tear-filled eyes.
Then, without warning, Carola released a bone-chilling laugh and peered down at Kylee with unmistakable superiority. “Who told you that my target was Baker today?”
The words struck Kylee like lightning, transforming her entire expression in an instant.
Her eyes expanded to their limits as she stared at Carola with disbelief painting her features. What did Carola mean?
Her target today wasn’t Baker?
Who else could possibly serve as Carola’s intended victim if not him?
The terrifying realization dawned on Kylee with sickening clarity. Could the target actually be her?
“Mom!” The mere possibility of this scenario ripped a scream from Kylee’s throat that echoed through the room.
Carola’s gaze swept over her with cold contempt. “If you call me that one more time, I’ll order someone to shatter every tooth from your mouth!”
Tears gathered in Kylee’s eyes at that.

Baker finally grasped the sinister implications in Carola’s words, and panic began its relentless march across his features. “Carola! Direct your vengeance toward me! Do not bring harm to my daughter; she is innocent!”
“Innocent?” Carola let out a cold chuckle. “You have no right to use that word! You dare claim your daughter carries no blame. That means my daughter deserves all of it? If your hatred burns for me, then direct it at me! But why did you choose to ruin my child!”
Her voice climbed higher with each word, trembling with anguish.
After her outburst, she gradually calmed down. Her gaze found Kylee once more before she said to Baker, “Since you possessed the heartless cruelty to shatter my daughter’s life, what possible reason exists for me to extend mercy toward yours?”
Baker was frozen, unable to say another word.
“Everything has been prepared.” Rodney’s voice cut through the tension at that moment.
The moment his words registered, Kylee’s voice erupted in desperate screams. “Please forgive me! I’m begging you with everything I have left. Please do not do this to me!”
She stumbled backward while speaking, her body instinctively seeking escape from the approaching nightmare.
