Chapter 1912
Chapter1912
After a pause, she continued, “I also believe that Carola would never deceive me about something so significant.”
After absorbing Belinda’s explanation, Lucas nodded with understanding before saying, “Only through locating both the mastermind behind this conspiracy and that enigmatic man can we truly uncover what transpired back then.”
Belinda narrowed her eyes. “Indeed, everything now rests upon the Happer family’s investigative capabilities.”
Lucas studied Belinda’s features intently, arching an eyebrow. “Nevertheless, I find myself increasingly convinced that you are Elwood’s biological daughter.”
Belinda’s eyelashes fluttered delicately. “Do you truly think so?”
Lucas responded with calm certainty, “Don’t you recognize that your eyes and facial structure mirror Elwood’s quite remarkably? Furthermore, why do you suppose that during your initial encounter with him, you experienced such an immediate sense of kinship and discovered such natural ease in conversation with him? Perhaps those feelings emerged because of genuine blood connections flowing between you.”
At that, Belinda’s eyes flickered with realization. The truth of his words struck her with undeniable force.
That unique sense of kinship she had experienced with Elwood had never manifested with anyone else. From her very first glimpse of Elwood, she had felt this connection emanating from the deepest corners of her heart.
Reflecting upon that now, she believed that it might genuinely have been because they were related.
Belinda was lost in thought.
After engaging in extended conversation, Belinda and Lucas each departed to shower before surrendering to sleep’s embrace.
The following day arrived with crisp morning light.
In a private room of an upscale cafe, the atmosphere hung heavy with unspoken tension.
Belinda calmly settled onto a plush sofa inside, regarding Lyle and Mitchell, who had positioned themselves across from her. “What do you want to talk about?” she asked.

Earlier that morning, shortly after breakfast, she had received an unexpected call from Lyle. He had requested a meeting to address something of great importance.
After a moment’s careful consideration, she had agreed to meet him.
Lyle cut straight to the heart of the matter. “Belinda, do you still remember Tunny’s incident?”
The moment Tunny’s name escaped Lyle’s lips, Belinda’s expression shifted in an instant.
Belinda remembered that.
That incident from years ago still lingered like a dark shadow over her heart. She had done nothing wrong, yet was cruelly framed and accused of killing Tunny.
No matter how desperately she had tried to explain, Lyle and Mitchell had refused to believe her. They had branded her a murderer.
And they had even…
The incident of Tunny was a memory she never wished to revisit, a wound she would rather leave buried.
Belinda drew in a deep breath, lifted her chin, and fixed Lyle with an icy stare. “Why are you bringing this up now? Do you think that your revenge on me isn’t enough, that you still crave more?”
