Chapter 1901

Kenia’s weathered features creased with worry, uncertainty flickering across her face. “But… they’re still your family, dear. You—”

Before Kenia could finish, Belinda interrupted gently but firmly. “You and Lucas are my family too. Besides, sharing blood with someone doesn’t mean we’re obligated to live under the same roof, does it?”

Kenia opened her mouth to continue persuading her but remembered herself and said nothing more.

Belinda’s voice softened as she reached for Kenia’s hand. “Grandma, I truly believe the life I’m living now brings me real happiness, and I don’t want to change a single part of it.”

“Alright then.” Seeing how clearly Belinda had expressed her feelings, Kenia chose not to push the matter further. Deep down, she had no wish for Belinda to leave either.

After spending a long while talking warmly with Kenia, Belinda and Lucas returned to their bedroom.

“How are you feeling now?” Lucas asked, studying her expression.

Belinda lowered her gaze and unconsciously bit her lower lip. Several moments passed before she spoke. “To be honest, my emotions are all tangled. Part of me feels happy, but another part feels uneasy about suddenly discovering so many family members.”

Lucas let out a low chuckle, one eyebrow lifting slightly. “Shouldn’t having more family make you happier?”

Belinda nodded slowly, her thoughts still in turmoil. “It should. But everything happened so fast that I feel overwhelmed. I need time to process it all properly.”

Lucas reached out and gently stroked her hair, his voice dropping into a tender murmur. “Give yourself all the time your heart needs to accept your family and the depth of their affection for you.”

Belinda took a deep, steadying breath and replied with quiet resolve. “I understand. I’ll try to adjust.”

Suddenly, Lucas’s expression changed as a thought crossed his mind. His brow furrowed, and after a moment’s hesitation, he asked carefully, “Belinda, what do you think about your biological father? There’s a ninety percent chance that Elwood is your father. However…”

His words faded into a heavy silence.

Belinda seamlessly picked up where he had faltered. “However, something deeply painful and unpleasant must have transpired between Carola and Elwood in their shared past, something so devastating that it completely shattered her faith in him. Yet even with her heart in pieces, she couldn’t bring herself to abandon the precious child who embodied their love. So Carola made the calculated decision to marry Baker, turning him into her husband in name only.”

Something shifted in Lucas’s gaze. “I believe Carola still loves Elwood and has never truly moved on from him. Otherwise, why would she choose Baker, who shares the same surname as Elwood? That choice suggests that, on a subconscious level, she refused to let her beloved child carry a different family name from her real father’s.”

After confirming the relationship between Belinda and Carola, Lucas treated Carola with noticeably greater respect.
