Chapter 1876

“So, you both doubt her as well?”

“Yes,” Belinda admitted with a small, honest nod.

“Then why didn’t you tell me about this before?” Kenia asked.

Belinda’s tone softened as she explained, “Because we know how deeply you care for Sarai, and how much her actions weigh on you. If we had thrown our suspicions at you recklessly, you would have only felt hurt and unsettled…”

After all, no matter her motives, Sarai had used Kenia.

Kenia had suffered enough from Sarai’s coveting of Lucas. If she were also forced to face the truth—that Sarai had deliberately used her as a pawn to reach her goals—it would shatter her completely. Moreover…

So far, Belinda and Lucas hadn’t uncovered anything suspicious about Sarai.

Because of that, they had chosen to keep the matter from Kenia for now.

Kenia understood Belinda’s reasoning, yet it only deepened her sense of sorrow.

Her eyes lowered, and she remained silent for a long while.

Then, Holley broke the silence.

“Mom, Sarai threatened me before, trying to make me help her win over Mr. Clark. From that alone, you can see she’s cunning and manipulative. You really shouldn’t pin any hopes on her.”

Holley’s words rang true, and Belinda, in her heart, agreed.

But for Kenia—who had raised Sarai from childhood—it was unbearable to think that the girl she had nurtured could be so calculating.

After offering Kenia a few words of comfort, Belinda excused herself and went upstairs to her room.

That left only Kenia and Holley sitting together in the living room.

“Alright, Mom, don’t let someone like her upset you. She’s not worth it,” Holley said gently.

Kenia let out a soft sigh, then lifted her gaze toward Holley, her expression layered with complicated emotions.

“She’s not the only one who made me upset.”

Holley pressed her lips into a thin line for a moment.

“Mom, why are you looking at me like that? Are you… still angry with me?”

Kenia’s eyes sharpened as she fixed her daughter with a serious stare. Her voice matched her expression—solemn and firm.

“Holley, be honest with me. Are you hiding anything else from me?”

Holley blinked innocently.

“What else could I possibly be hiding from you? You already know all my secrets! Besides, I’ve truly realized what I did was wrong. Mom, please forgive me. I promise I’ll never do anything like that again.”

She was, of course, referring to the time she had injected hormones into Belinda.

But instead of easing Kenia’s mind, Holley’s words only left her even more disappointed.

Kenia wanted—truly wanted—to give her daughter another chance. Yet Holley clearly had no intention of confessing the full truth.

If there’s nothing else, you should go,” Kenia said at last, dismissing Holley coldly. She had no desire to continue the conversation anymore.
