Chapter 1851

She looked over at Lucas, her throat bobbing.

“That’s everything…”

The only reason she had found the courage to speak up now was because it was Lucas asking her this. A man this powerful wasn’t someone she could lie to or keep secrets from. Still, her whole body was tense with fear from her confession. She muttered in a desperate voice, “Mr. Clark, please, I beg of you. Just promise me you’ll protect my family.”

Lucas replied calmly, “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, no harm will come to them.”

Hearing that, Willow exhaled in relief. The fear that had coiled up in her chest for a long time seemed to ease immediately.

“Thank you. Truly, thank you, Mr. Clark!” she mumbled.

A brief silence fell between them before Lucas asked, “The man who showed up at your house—did you ever come across him at the hospital?”

“No, never,” Willow answered, shaking her head.

“But he looked like a bodyguard or even a thug to me. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with tattoos on his arms.”

Then, she remembered something and blurted out, “Wait! I still have the surveillance video from that day!”

Lucas frowned slightly.

“Surveillance video?”

This was a pleasant surprise.

“Yes.” Willow nodded quickly.

“After I had my child, my husband and I had to return to work. Only the nanny and the baby’s grandmother were home with the baby. We feared that the nanny might mistreat the baby, so we installed hidden cameras around the house. That’s how this whole encounter with that man was recorded.”

She felt grateful for that decision as she spoke.

At the time, she hadn’t understood why she wanted to keep the video. It had just been a gut instinct telling her that, one day, it might come in handy.

“That’s good,” Lucas said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice.

“I’ll have someone go with you to get it.”

“Alright,” Willow replied.

Beside them, Gordon pulled out his phone and made a call.

Minutes later, a man in a black suit entered the reception room. Willow rose and followed him out.

Still seated on the sofa, Lucas lowered his gaze, lost in thought.

After a long silence, he glanced up at Gordon.

“Have someone look into everything that took place after Carola gave birth. I want the doctor and all the nurses who were involved at the time located.”

Gordon met his eyes.

“Mr. Clark, are you suspecting…”

“Yeah.” Lucas gave a firm nod, his expression unreadable. After a short pause, he added coolly, “Send someone to discreetly collect blood samples from Carola and Elwood.”

“Yes, sir.” With a crisp reply, Gordon pivoted on his heel and strode out.
