Chapter 1813
“Thanks,” Kylee said, managing a small smile as she took the cup.
After drinking and setting the cup down, Kylee turned to Tamara, her voice steady despite the tension. “Mrs. Wright, I know you dislike me because of my mother. I don’t know what she did to make you feel this way, and I’m sorry for it. But she’s still my mother, and that’s not going to change. If you don’t want to acknowledge me as your granddaughter, it’s fine.”
Her words carried a quiet confidence.
Tamara, however, only let out a sharp, mocking laugh after hearing that.
Tamara’s laugh was laced with venom, her eyes raking over Kylee with a look of utter contempt.
She said, “You put on a good act, don’t you? Anyone clueless might mistake you for the loyal daughter, holding your mother in the highest regard. But the truth is nothing like that.”
Her lips twisted into a sneer. “When danger came, you were the first to shove Carola into harm’s way to save your own skin. Selfish, conniving, vicious—and you have the gall to play the devoted daughter? I’m embarrassed for you.”
Tamara’s sharp words landed like a blow, and Kylee’s face froze, turning pale in an instant.
The accusation cut deep, exposing something she couldn’t shake.
Truth be told, she deeply regretted doing that now.
If she could rewind time, she would never have acted so callously—even if it meant faking concern for Carola. But at that desperate moment, with danger looming, her only thought had been saving herself.
She hadn’t cared about others’ safety at all.
Tamara’s voice cut through the air again, cold and final. “The blood’s drawn. You can leave now.”
As she spoke, she seemed to recall something, casting a cold glance at Kylee. “Oh, and until we have the paternity test results, don’t breathe a word about your connection to my family to anyone.”
Her contempt was practically tangible, spilling over in her tone. Kylee’s anger surged at that.

Taking a deep breath, she forced some of her rage down, meeting Tamara’s eyes with deliberate clarity. “Rest assured, I don’t need your reminder. I’ll keep it to myself. You should know that not everyone is clamoring to cozy up to your family.”
Her words carried a proud edge, but to Tamara, they rang hollow.
Not wanting to cozy up to the Wright family, yet still tampering with the paternity test before?
That was laughable.
Kylee rose from the sofa, her movements slow, almost expectant, waiting for Elwood to call her back, to defend her as a father should. But as she reached the door and stepped outside, Elwood remained silent.
Disappointment burned in her chest, and she bit her lip, silently cursing.
What kind of father just let his daughter be humiliated like that?
Elwood was completely spineless!
