Chapter 1798

Making it right. You have our word—we’ll provide a satisfactory resolution.” Belinda nodded calmly. “Alright.”

“Thank you for your understanding,” the manager replied.

Once the property manager and the head of security left, the living room grew quiet again.

Turning to Kenia and Margie, Belinda said, “You both must be exhausted after the incident today. Why don’t you head to your rooms and rest for a while? I’ll handle dinner tonight.”

Margie shook her head, gently saying, “No, Belinda, I’m okay. Just let Kenia rest.”

Belinda fixed Margie with a steady gaze. “You need to rest as well.”

After a brief pause, Margie relented with a nod. “Alright. I’ll listen to you.”

Back in their rooms, Belinda first called Jazmine to cancel their evening plans, then dialed Lucas to let him know she was already home.

Just as she was about to relax after the calls, her phone buzzed again.

Glancing at the caller ID, Belinda’s expression grew conflicted, her eyes lowering.

After a moment’s hesitation, she answered the call. “Hello.”

It was Nalani on the line.

“Belinda, are you free tonight?” Nalani asked. “Let’s grab dinner. Barbara was just saying how much she misses you.”

Belinda let out a quiet sigh. “I’m sorry, Nalani, I can’t tonight.”

Nalani’s voice carried a hint of disappointment. “Oh, okay. How about tomorrow night?”

“I have plans tomorrow, too,” Belinda replied, declining once more.

Hearing Belinda’s words, Nalani didn’t press further. “Alright, let’s meet up when you’re free then.”

“Okay.” With little else to say, Belinda hung up.

Staring at the phone screen, she let out another heavy sigh.

Truthfully, she felt a pang of sorrow for doing this.

But when she thought of Kylee’s relationship with the Wright family, she resolved to maintain her distance from them.

After all, they were the real family, bound by blood.

Stepping back now would spare her future pain, and keeping her distance was the wise choice.

The more she reflected on the matter, the more convinced she became that she was making the right call.

Feeling a bit low was natural, but the feeling would pass soon enough.

To her surprise, barely an hour after her call with Lucas, he arrived home.
