Chapter 1788
After departing the restaurant, Belinda steered her car toward her mentor’s residence. Though her gaze remained fixed on the road stretching before her, her expression carried the weight of unmistakable melancholy despite her attempts to appear composed.
When she reached her mentor’s home, she exchanged brief courtesies with Jazmine and her husband before retreating to her designated room to immerse herself in piano practice. Yet after merely ten minutes of playing, Jazmine walked over, and her voice cut through the discordant notes like a gentle blade. “That’s enough for now. You should take a break.”
The interruption jolted Belinda from her troubled reverie, and she turned toward Jazmine with questioning eyes. “Is something the matter?”
Jazmine’s brow creased with concern as she delivered her gentle reprimand. “Just listen to what’s coming from those keys—it’s completely chaotic. Your mind lacks the tranquility necessary for proper practice. Playing in such a disturbed state will only work against your progress.”
Belinda’s face immediately reflected a hint of frustration, and a sense of resignation washed over her. She remained motionless in her seat, her gaze dropping to the floor as silence enveloped her like a heavy blanket.
Jazmine released a soft, understanding sigh before settling beside Belinda, her voice warm. “Would you like to share what’s troubling you? Did you have an argument with Lucas?”
Belinda shook her head. “No, Lucas isn’t the source of my distress.”
Following a thoughtful pause, she drew in a breath, lifted her gaze to meet Jazmine’s eyes, and continued, “Today brought the sudden revelation of news that proved devastatingly difficult for me to process. Someone I deeply admire and maintain a wonderful rapport with has been revealed as the biological father of someone I thoroughly despise! Consequently, I discovered myself struggling…”
“Tremendously to accept this harsh reality. And when that person learned about the bitter hatred between his daughter and me, he told me that we could no longer keep in touch.”

Surprise flickered across Jazmine’s features as she processed this, though understanding quickly replaced her initial bewilderment. Belinda had always worn her emotions openly, and since this shocking development had probably blindsided her completely, her difficulty accepting it made perfect sense.
Belinda’s lips pressed together in a thin line before a bitter laugh escaped her throat. “You know what strikes me as particularly absurd? Sometimes I find myself envying that individual I resent because her parents are genuinely wonderful people.”
The unspoken contrast hung heavy in the air—her own parents had never been kind.
Jazmine wrapped a comforting arm around Belinda’s shoulders, her smile radiating understanding. “Feeling envy, jealousy, and resentment is natural. You’re human, not a robot; of course you experience these emotions. There’s nothing wrong with having such feelings.”
